The brand was established in 1998 and the current corporation was established in 2009.

Historically the company sold only women’s underwear. In 2014 the company had considered steps to also begin selling such products for male consumers.^[3] That year it made an initial public offering and effective 26 June 2014 was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE).

In 2019 there was an expected loss of 140 million USD, and possible plans to close retail stores.

Its head office, the City Beauty Industrial Park , is in Fengdeling Village , Fenggang Town, Dongnan District, Dongguan. It moved to its current headquarters in 2010.

2011—2015: Foundation Years

From 2011, Firouzè Akhbari crafted Atelier lingerie pieces for limited clients, garnering Lady Gaga as a client.

In 2013, Pretty Wild presented its first broadly distributed lingerie collection which featured lace from France and Italy.

In 2014, the company secured a longtime Private label production agreement with Moldova based lingerie manufacturer Olga Ceban Apparel with the assistance of The United States Agency for International Development.

In January 2015, Pretty Wild made its fashion week debut in Amsterdam, presenting at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam.

2015—Present: Acquisition by Sparotica SPQR

In December 2015, Pretty Wild filed for bankruptcy.

In late December 2015, Sparotica SPQR (formerly MRH SpaRotica Groupe) acquired Pretty Wild for an undisclosed sum and began expanding its retail, with a planned 40 stores and China ecommerce over a five years.

Campaigns

The inaugural Pretty Wild campaign debuted in Fall 2013, and was shot by famed photography duo Ronald Stoops & Inge Grognard. Ronald Stoops & Inge Grognard are notable in supporting established and emerging Benelux designers, including members of the Antwerp Six Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene and Martin Margiela.

For Fall 2014, the collaboration between Pretty Wild, Ronald Stoops & Inge Grognard continued into a series of lifestyle images.

For Fall 2017 Pretty Wild enlisted photographer Fabrizio Rainone for an ad campaign called “Aristo Rock,” which was shot in the royal suite of the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam.^[20][21]

ThirdLove was the first bra and underwear brand to offer trademarked half cup sizing and a mobile app allowing women to measure themselves at home. It also uses a technology referred to as Fit Finder which combines machine learning algorithms and customer feedback to select the best bra size.

History

ThirdLove was founded by husband and wife Heidi Zak and David Spector. They left their jobs and launched the company in a loft in downtown San Francisco in November 2013. Through a Craigslist ad, the company gathered one hundred participants, who were told to take a photo of themselves wearing a tight tank top over their bras. While the R&D session was intended to refine an app for calculating bust size, Zak found that the bras themselves needed improving. When the participants tried on ThirdLove’s bra prototype, they found out that 37 percent of them fell between cup sizes.

Ra’el Cohen, founder of lingerie company Luv & Honey, joined ThirdLove and used the data from the Craigslist fittings to create the company’s own proprietary molds. ThirdLove became the first bra company to create half-sizes. ThirdLove was introduced to startup Indi Custom who was developing a smartphone-based technology to customize jeans without fit models. They acquired the company and adapted the technology for bras, taking two years to develop the company’s patented technology app. They launched the company bra line in the spring of 2014 with seven distinct styles. Within three months, they identified “24/7” as their best style and discontinued producing the other six styles. In 2015, they found a manufacturing partner in China that was willing to include their proprietary design elements. As of late 2016, the company shipped approximately 50,000 bras a month. ThirdLove expanded into underwear, as well as lounge and sleepwear.

In June 2018, the company added 24 new larger. As of October 2018, Forbes estimated ThirdLove to be worth $750 million and was placed on the Forbes Next Billion Dollar Startup List.

In 2019, they opened their first pop-up shop in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood from July 24 through the year’s end.

1921 – Glamorise Foundations, Inc. was founded in New York City. Design, manufacturing and distribution conducted from Manhattan offices.

1925 – First sales brochure for chain stores was created and distributed.

1932 – First patents for a brassiere and corselet were granted. US patents 1,865,381 and 1,867,464.

1936 – First National print media campaign.

1950 – Moved corporate offices to its present location on Madison Avenue in New York City. Design, manufacturing and distribution continue from Manhattan location.

1951 – ADJUST-EZE girdle was featured in a print ad in LIFE magazine; Adjust-eze was a new revolutionary patented girdle design that allowed for an adjustable waistline.

1955 – First TV advertisements for Glamorise.

1965 – Sewing and Distribution Center moved from New York City to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

1970 – US patent for famous MagicLift bra design was granted; the MagicLift collection is to this date the industry leader in soft cup (wire free) bras with the unique criss-cross design to uplift, define and support the bust.

1975 – Introduced the world’s first sports specific bra — the Tennis Bra by Glamorise.

1976 – Entered UK and European markets.

1990 – First Wonderwire bra introduced, the bra with the invisible wire that never touches your body .

1995 – Opened CAD/CAM design studio on Madison Avenue, New York City.

CEO Ken Zhang knew he was destined to follow his entrepreneurial parents’ footsteps by someday building his own successful business. While majoring in Business Administration at University of Southern California, Zhang met his future colleagues and friends, VP of Logistics Kevin Lai and VP of Design Anthony Chan, who would eventually help with the launch of Uni-Grace in 2005.

Dora Lau founded Dora L International, Inc. in 1991 and has served as CEO and President for the past 18 years.
