Our philosophy is to treat every single person that walks in our door like family, because we are a family-run business. Years ago, two women set out to redefine how we experience lingerie. Best friends Melanie and Mira started Melmira in 1992 to shift women’s mindsets when it came to their relationship with their body. When Mira moved away, Melanie took the concept to the next level, following in her mother and her grandmother’s footsteps.
Melanie’s mother, Laurette, opened a lingerie shop in Saskatchewan in the 1960s, starting the concept of personalized fitting and introducing European lingerie lines to Canada. Melanie’s grandmother came from France, and like many French women, she believed that a woman’s wardrobe began with a strong foundation. Her philosophy continues to inspire us to help you build your wardrobe piece by piece, with great care and purpose.
Over the years, Melanie’s four daughters found their own way into the Melmira story, taking the boutique to new heights as they each brought their unique passion and experience to the business. Yet, the Melmira family extends beyond Melanie and her girls. Every member of our team has been hand selected, chosen because of a desire to help women. Many of our staff have been with us for years, and some of our customers include three generations of women from the same family.
